First Listen

A nice Friday night treat - Rihanna's forthcoming Rated R leaked! I pretty much think everything Rihanna has done, post-"S.O.S" is complete and utter genius. (Anyone who doesn't think her last album, Good Girl Gone Bad, is a fucking masterpiece is out of their goddamn minds.) Anyway, I've only given R a single listen and I can already tell it's going to be a grower. It's abrasive and dark-as-hell (the cover art is beyond appropriate). I can't wait to listen to it again.

Songs I already love:
"Mad House" (I know it's just an intro but it's so cool and really sets the tone)
"Stupid in Love"
"Rockstar 101" (even though it's a bit shapeless, it also is "featuring Slash")
"Russian Roulette"
"Rude Boy"
"Photographs" (it always pains me to admit when Will.i.am is good)
"G4L" (she says "motherfucker")
"Te Amo"
"Cold Case Love" (Justin Timberlake = pop songwriter of our generation)

Songs I'm iffy about:
"Wait Your Turn"
"Hard"
"Fire Bomb"
"The Last Song"

Sly Fox

My review of Wes Anderson's Fantastic Mr. Fox is also up at The Playlist. Read it HERE. Yes, this Fantastic Mr.Fox/Antichrist mash-up poster is quite literally my favorite thing ever.

Sunk

My review of the charming/infuriating Pirate Radio, over at The Playlist. Read it HERE.

Burger Delights

I told myself I wasn't going to do food reviews anymore this year. I thought it would "cheapen" my prowess as a reviewer of books, movies, and large-scale foreign wars. Oh well. We all have to eat, I guess. I reviewed Flipside Restaurant, in Fairfield, for this week's Fairfield County Weekly. Read it HERE.

Up to 11

I reviewed the relatively new This is Spinal Tap Blu-ray for High Def Digest. Read it HERE.
